I seriously can't believe how blessed I am. I have such a wonderful life. I thought I would never make it through this semester, with hard classes beyond my comprehension, another couple months away from my family, struggling meeting new people, and dealing with snow...but I am so happy. I've never had to work so hard in my life, just for simple payoffs, but I am now just seeing the little blessings coming my way. I've learned that trials just keep going, and I shouldn't wish for future time periods, just because it seems easier then...I've learned that it's all about being positive in the present, and enjoying life the way it is. I can tell you right now that once I figured this out, I realized how much happier I am. People look at my life sometimes and feel bad for me, I mean, I'm a poor college student just barely making ends meet, barely getting that grade, barely making it through, but I don't feel sorry for myself at all...I wouldnt ask for anything different in my life. I have never felt more satisfied. I've learned not to try to wonder what my life would be like if it's perfect, because I've realized I couldn't ask for a better life. I have everything I could ever want. I am so happy fighting to stay afloat. So next time you feel down, discouraged, and not understanding why everything in life is going wrong, just count your blessings, work harder than you've ever worked, and the payoff will come, the happiness WILL come.

Stay Positive. Be Happy. Life might be hard, but you can always wear a smile.

New Semester, New Adventures

So its my third semester at BYU, and I can't believe it! Am I really already a sophomore?? I am growing up too fast haha. So this semester I am working really hard to get into my major's program (dietetics) and they only except 40 people so it's pretty competitive, I'm a little nervous. My classes this semester include intro to bio-organic chemistry, nutrient metabolism, anatomy (i get to work with cadavers!), D&C, and intro to Dietetics. Its a lot harder than I thought it would be, I basically have a midterm every week until finals...blah. So I'm quite busy!!! Also my major requires me to have 300 hours of food service before I can apply, so I now work in the cannon center. I have a pretty ugly outfit I get to wear, its thrilling really haha. So basically I'm super busy but I'm loving it! My classes are so cool, I especially love anatomy, studying the human body has always been so cool to me, and now I get to work with cadavers and actually see what the inside of me looks like! It really is the coolest class! I love D&C as well, I am taking it from Randy Bott, and if you've never heard of him look him up, he's like the best religion teacher at BYU! I am so lucky to have him, he is the best! I am so excited for my major, I have such a love for nutrition and helping people, so dietetics is the perfect major for me. I plan on also minoring in business management, so later on in life I will hopefully be able to start my own consulting business through the hospital or something like that! It's a long road ahead, but I am thrilled!!!

Let's see other news, I have an awesome apartment, and 3 really awesome roomies! My roomie from last year Kaitlin (also knows as Katia) lives with me again. I also have my friend Mandy living with me, she swam for BYU with me last year but quit after 1 year because of her major (shes doing nursing...which is ridiculously competitve!) and the 4th roomie is Kilee, she is a freshman and mandy's cousin and she's just as crazy as me! We live in Alpine Village, it's really really nice but really expensive lol! There are lot's of cool people in my ward, there are a lot of UVU people and hair school students who live here as well, so that's definitley a change. I find myself asking where people go to school. I am involved in lots of BYUSA stuff this year, and I'm also apart of the SDA (student dietetic association), and the group is soo fun!!!Mandy and I are eventually going to join the triathalon club, which will take place of swimming haha. Also my missionary (Bryan Phillips) is coming home this april!!! I'm really excited but really scared! I have approx. 171 days, but who's counting hahaha. He is currently in Northern Philly, kinda in the ghetto. He has some crazy stories haha!!! Very entertaining letters lol!

So that's a little update on me! I hope everyone's lives are fabulous! I turn 20 in 28 days?!?! weird huh!!! I'm so old!!!

Haven't Blogged in awhile!

So it's been awhile since I've been on my blog, not much has changed though. I am almost done with winter semester here at BYU, which is a relief! I need to work hard for my major, they only accept 40 dietetics majors a year, so I need to step it up. Today I talked with my coach, and told him that I think it would be better if I didn't swim next year. It was a really hard decision to make just because I love swimming, but it is more important that I do really well in school and start making a living for myself. I feel like that's what I need to do to grow up. It was sad to say goodbye, but I know I will be better off in the long run.
I just got back last night from a trip to Vegas with my friends from BYU. It was a short trip, but totally fun. It was nice to be in familiar surroundings again, and fun to be on the crazy strip. I got to see my friend Juelaine from high school which was so fun because she and I are crazy together! I also got to see Bryan, my missionary's, family which is always fun, they are awesome! I got to see my dad too!!! It was just a really good weekend, and I am sad I have to go back to school lol. The weather in Vegas was perfect too, whereas in Provo it snowed today :( I already miss Vegas, I'm going back in 3 weeks though so thats pretty sweet!!!
Elder Phillips has been gone for exactly 1 year last thursday! I seriously can't beleive he's been gone for that long, its crazy! It has gone by so fast, and before I know it he will be back at BYU with me, hopefully not distracting me from school lol. His brother is coming to BYU next fall so that will be awesome!

I really thought I was going to like this semester a lot...but it's so much harder than I expected! I did really bad on my first nutrition exam (which is the first class to my major) today and I'm brain dead now. I have a chemistry exam tomorrow, and somehow I have to fit that in with swimming and all my other assignments. Somehow I will make it through this week, hopefully. The good news is I start resting for my taper meet at the end of February. I sure am excited about that! I get to wear the same suit all the Olympians wore! It's called the LZR suit and they are over $400...I'm glad I don't have to pay for it haha. I definitely am missing my family and KY right about now, but I just gotta get through Feb and March then it will be time for me to go home again for a long time yay!!! I'm getting a little sick of the dorms hahaha. I go apartment hunting on Saturday, which is soo exciting! I'm going to have my own little house :) I'm going to room with my room mate right now (Kaitlin, or Katia) and my friend Mandy on the swim team :) It will be a blast, and I'll finally have my own room!!!! I might actually get to bed at a good time next year! Well thats all for now :) Wish me luck on my last midterms!

Thanksgiving Week

This past week was the best week of my life! I got to see my family again and spend a lot of time with extended family in Alpine, UT and in Park City, UT. My brothers, are soooooo TALL! i look like a shrimp compared to them now! Kathryn is so much bigger as well! The whole time we sang songs and she told me and the boys to share. Its really hard saying goodbye to them, I just miss being with them so much. I really hope my brothers will come up here for college, I really want to be closer to them. They are great boys, they have grown so much. I just wish I could watch them grow but I cant. It was a great week, I'm really sad it's over. Only two more weeks of class and then finals week and I get to go bach to KY! I can't wait for that!

Almost Time

This week is a crazy week for me! I have 2 exams, 2 papers, a huge project, and a bunch of other little assignments that are due throughout the week. I don't know how I'm going to manage it at all haha. I can't wait for the weekend, it's going to be a major relaxing weekend. I just had my birthday last monday (the 3rd) and it was really fun. My roommate organized a birthday party for me during family home evening and it turned out really fun! Only 2 more weeks until Thanksgiving, and I can't wait!!! I miss my family so much, its going to be so awesome to be able to spend time with them! I have been having a hard time with my health up here and last sunday I recieved a blessing from one of my really good friends up here at BYU. I was his first blessing and I could tell he was nervous, but he did a great job :) I am so thankful for the priesthood, and it was soo cool to see one of my friends use that priesthood :)

Never would I have thought

I never would have thought how hard college could become. I don't think i've ever been so sore in my life. I love the swim team, but lately I've been scared of getting cut. I have been really struggling with school and stupid drama that has been going on. My little brother Michael gave me some great advice yesterday....he said to put God first in my life, and then everything would fall into place. Also if there is contention in my heart I should pray to have it leave me so I could feel the spirit. This was exacly what I needed to hear...I have been so preoccupied with school and swimming, the gospel and feeling the spirt took second stage for me. I really needed the reminder this week, and now I feel better. I'm really excited for conference this weekend...I have to write a paper for book of mormon class, and I'm actually ok with that. It will be a good weekend.

I also didnt realize how much I would miss my family. I never appreciated their presense before just because they were always there with me. Now that I'm so far away, I really wish they could be here with me. I haven't seen my brothers since July, and I don't get to see my parents and sister until Thanksgiving. I really can't wait, its going to be a short time, but I'm going to cherish it.

BYU is going great so far :D I absolutley love it here...the schooling is really hard and so is the swimming...but its so great! My psych class is really really hard, but I think it's really interesting. I love Book of Mormon...I think that's my favorite class. So being an athlete is pretty much the coolest thing ever....We get a bunch of cool nike stuff...plus we have our own tutoring place called the Student Athlete Center. We just go up there and chill sometimes haha. All the swimmers on the team are soo great...They all make me laugh so hard! I love the freshman boys, I don't think I've ever met such funny guys haha. Kaitlin (my roommate) and I have so much fun hangin' in our dorm haha. This place is just so great! I am excited to start the swim meets, I can't wait to compete!

Running the football stadium is my favorite thing to do up here at BYU...not! those steps are really really hard to run up hahaha!

I really need to leave Vegas...I just am so excited to meet everyone at BYU...it just seems like time is passing by so slowly...I've had so many fun times this last week with Juelaine and Kiah, my two friends that are seniors this year. We have made soooo many videos and taken so many funny pictures...I am really going to miss them. I don't think I'm going to miss many people from Las Vegas, most of my friends are already gone. Most people just sicken me...like the Las Vegas swimmers (not really the girls on my team, but every other swimmer). They all just seem to be so nasty....it is horrible. I can't wait to get away from all of the boys here...they all are nasty. BYU boys yay! All I have to do is say bye to the few real good friends I have here and then...BYE FOREVER LAS VEGAS!

I'm off to college in a week! I am seriously soo excited! I can't even explain how bad I want to leave Las Vegas, I love it here and all...but it's time for a change! All my stuff is spread throughout the house, hopefully I will get it all in boxes sometime soon. I'm excited to be on my own, to finally feel like a grown up. My roommate is awesome, I met her last week. We will definatley have soo much fun together! I'm so excited for BYU swim too! The coaching staff is AMAZING and all the swimmers I've met are so cool! I feel another conference championship coming :D
